Kindergarten
With qualified teachers and guides, your group of young explorers can have a visit tailored to their needs. Explore the Heysen home and studios, enjoy an art demonstration learning about the flora and fauna of The Cedars and let your group enjoy exploring the Artist’s Garden. Groups are welcome to spend the day, do their own art projects and take the Artist’s Walk of the wider property.
Primary School
Our experienced teachers and guides will take your group on a journey through the Heysen home and studios, learning about the art and lives of the Heysen family, from the art of Hans and Nora to the games the children played, famous visitors to the property, the dinner parties hosted by Sallie Heysen and the environmental conservation work of Hans. Groups are welcome to stay for the day to explore the Artist’s Garden and wider property and picnic on the lawns.
Secondary School
We welcome secondary school groups who would like a general tour of the Heysen home and studios or something more tailored to their studies, such as art, Adelaide Hills history, German language students, women’s history, cultural studies, environmental studies and more. Our experienced guides can tailor their tour to assignment or project requirements and address specific topics of interest for students. Groups are welcome to stay and enjoy the Artist’s Garden and wider property, the Cedars’ Cafe & Tea Rooms, and the retail shop.
Home School
We welcome home school groups to The Cedars for a tour of the house and studios, tailoring to particular age ranges and topics being studied by the group such as art, women or environmental studies, history and more. Groups are welcome to stay and enjoy the Artist’s Garden and wider Cedars property.
