Heysen Gallery

Construction of the Heysen Gallery will begin in the second half of 2024 adding a significant new chapter to the story of The Cedars and the Heysen Family.

Incorporating the surrounding natural landscape, the Heysen Gallery will provide an invigorated and immersive experience of the Heysen legacy – in particular the work of renowned artists Hans Heysen, and daughter Nora Heysen, whilst also featuring exhibitions of other Australian artists. Through the Adelaide City Deal, the Australian Government has committed $9 million to the project which will complement the current heritage-listed, national award-winning cultural destination.

The purpose-built, envvironmentally conscious gallery will include bushfire safe storage facilities as well as showcase the works of the two Heysens, along with their collection of art and cultural artefacts.

The project is funded by the government’s $649 million Adelaide City Deal, designed to drive Adelaide’s strategy for economic and population growth.
